Bison
Yellowstone National Park, WY

In a strange set of circumstances, Chris and I had to "rush" out of the park because the west entrance was scheduled to close for construction at about 9:00 or 10:00 am. Once again we were up with the birds, hoping for a rare moose-sighting in the Hayden Valley. Well, no moose were to be had, but just as the sun was trying to break through the ubiquitous morning fog, we encountered a sizeable heard of bison along--and in--the road. I'm not sure which was more intriguing--the stately bison, or the gonzo photographers--but I was happy with the experience of witnessing these humbling beasts up close, as well as making some pretty cool images like this. We did make it out of the park on time.
