This lush scene can be reached via a prehistoric-like trail near Lake Crescent, on Washington's Olympic Peninsula. I've visited several times, but the last time I finally landed the image I was after. I very ssubtly illuminated the foreground tree and moss with a flash. If I hadn't it would have registered on film as nearly black which would have detracted from the composition.
