Lake Crescent is yet another beautiful site on Washington's Olympic Peninsula, and has a very nice lodge to boot. While the subject of this image has some obvious similiarites to the previous "Lake Quinault Boats" it elicits some rather different emotions. To my eye, this image is much more placid and serene, and less "turbulent" than the other. I transformed the rather blue color of the background (overcast lighting recorded on color film) into a more nostalgic sepia tone, and blurred the background scenery to conjure up a more dream-like state. Changes like these that I contrive are simply reflections of my own response to the scenes that I shoot. In this way I'm not making a record of the actual scene, but rather an artist's interpretation.
