The architecture and ornamentation along the waterfront of Charlotte Amalie are worth the trip ashore (if you're on a boat), or the ride downtown. The colors alone are a spectacle. The waterfront is comprised of narrow alleways dominated by jewelry and t-shirt shops, but punctuated by quaint boutiques and restaurants. Our favorite area was the Royal Dane Mall, whose "Grandma's Cookies" you have to sample.
