To emphasize the looming stature of these old trees, I got right up against one, and pointed upwards with my wide-angle lens. Fill-flash illuminated the front side of the tree, which was necessary to bring out the detail of the mossy base; it otherwise would have been rendered detail-less black. The fog rolled into this scene very quickly--within minutes, which made for a much more interesting mood.
