This church has been immortalized by such artists as Georgia O'Keefe, and is a popular subject with contemporary artists as well. We visited the church twice on our most recent trip to Taos. On this particular visit, we arrived before sunrise to try and capture first light on the adobe structure. While the lighting is not conventional for architectural photography, I love the way the tree shadows dance in the light. The sky has been digitally altered by adding the clouds--originally it was a plain blue sky that graded rather severely from light to dark, thanks to the (mis)use of a polarizer.
