Tiny Inyokern Airport (IYK) in the desert at the southern terminus of the Sierras, serving Ridgecrest, CA, a booming desert town, courtesy of DODs Naval Weapons Center China Lake. It's a convenient fly-in from LAX, fully equipped with Dollar and Avis Rental Car facilities. It's 65 miles south of Lone Pine, the jumping-off point for my adventure.
