It' amazing how quickly these types of fleeting scenes must be recorded. It seems that I always get back--maybe--one exposure that "works", despite all the bracketing in the world. The light just changes too rapidly, as do the cloud formations, position and intensity of the moon, etc. For this river/cloudscape, I slapped an 80-series (blue) gel over my lens, used an aperture-priority auto exposure, and bracketed like crazy. There is motion implied in the image, because there was a lot of motion in the scene--the river, and clouds specifically. My guess is that this is about a 4-second exposure. Moraine Park, incidentally is a short drive from the Estes Park entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park. |
