Scale is an important element for depicting the grandeur of the Giant Sequoias.  Without it we often resort to caveats like, "pictures cannot do this subject justice", and "you just have to go there to get a sense of what it' really like".  This image lacks definitive scale, yet we can clearly see that these two trees are much more massive than any of their neighbors.  Are these relationships enough to sense the true scale of these behemoths?  For me, yes, but obviously I was there--dwarfed by their stature--when I made this picture!
