"Lithorganic"? It' a new word I coined, roughly translated means Organic Rock.  Yeah, whatever.  Anyway, there is a reason for my fun with words.  Having just had the concept of "pre-visualization" drummed into our psyches in a Mountain Light workshop with Pat O'Hara, I returned to this site in Buttermilk Country to make an image that I in fact had pre-visualized on our prior visit.  In particular I was interested in using silhouette to render the (rather inorganic) granite boulders softer and more lifelike than seen in direct light.  Also, I chose to include the rising sun and the graded dawn colors as compositional elements, all of which lend a vital mood to the otherwise staid landscape.
