First light on Basin Mtn. and Mt. Tom from Buttermilk Country, Inyo County, California. In a way, this image is my homage to the late great Galen Rowell, outdoor adventurer, writer, educator, and photographer extraordinaire. "Buttermilk Country" was essentially his backyard, and he made some absolutely stunning imagery of the area. I was introduced to the area through a photography workshop out of Galen's Mountain Light Gallery in Bishop, California. The gallery is well worth a trip to Bishop, as is the surrounding countryside, of course.
