The Monolithic "Cathedral Rock" towers over a barn while bathed in the last rays of golden sunset in Sedona.
Cathedral Rock is an icon of the American Southwest, and Sedona in particular. Most often shot at Red Rock Crossing with Oak Creek winding through the foreground, I wanted to include something a little different that could lend some scale and a sense of man into the overshot scene. A bit of digital work was required to retain detail in the dark foreground and the sunlit towers. It is the equivalent of placing a graduated neutral density filter over the camera lens, but with infinitely more control over the outcome.
