Tufted Titmouse
(Parus bicolor)
Northern Virginia

Purchase Print
The tufted titmouse is a very frequent visitor to our feeder here in Virginia. They have quite a regal presence for such a little bird, due to the small crest. This picture was shot in falling snow, from a "blind" that I constructed on our third-story balcony--I simply stretched a piece of burlap between two lightstands. The branch was placed near the feeder for the birds to perch prior to feeding. Fill-flash completed the shot.
