Canoes rest on the shoreline of a misty suburban lake with bright red maple foliage on a crisp autumn morning in Northern Virginia. I actually recorded this scene on 35mm slide film about 10 or 12 years ago, but just recently got around to finishing it. The image was made about 100 yards from a small house I was renting in suburban Washington on a very quiet, cool autumn morning. I had scouted the location on many occasions, and made some photographs, but none captured the essence of a fall morning on the lake the way this one did.
