Louis XIV Statue
The Louvre
Paris, France

Purchase Print
It was Louis XIV' ("the Sun King") mission to transform the Louvre into the "grandest palace in Europe". This was of course before this masterpiece of architecture was destined to be arguably the most famous museum in the world. This statue is a tribute to Louis XIV and can be seen in the great courtyard in front of the Louvre. The photo was shot as a silhouette to emphasize the stately sculpture against a beautiful pastel evening sky.
