During my brief visit, I found the Monmartre section of Paris rather disappointing. It did not have the charm and quaintness of other parts of the city that I visited. However, the Sacred Heart Basilica was an exception, despite my arriving under dull and cloudy skies. The Basilica is easily accessed via a tram (funiculaire) or by climbing lots of steps. At the base of the Basilica in the Place Willette is this carousel which I think lends an interesting counterpoint to the grandiose architecture. In addition to framing the image to include the shrine looming over the carousel, I decided to add some more surrealist drama in post-production.
